Magical!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Prairie Magic. Prairie Magic is exciting, entertaining and enlightening. The Hansons and Good Elks are the kind of people you'd like to have as friends. I was amazed how many times I laughed out loud. I highly recommend this book and look forward to the rest of the books in The Adventure Seekers Saga.

Enjoyable, uplifting, educational read!

Warm, funny characters you'll care about and root for as they learn ways to get their lives back on track. A setting you want to visit. People you want to hang out with. A writer who knows her stuff. First book in a series. This new edition (after being a COVR Finalist at the International New Age Trade Show) improves on the illustrations so readers can learn the holistic concepts the characters are exploring. My favorite part is the writer's wry, witty descriptions that will make you laugh out loud.

WOW! What a read!

I couldn't put it down! I read it straight through and loved it! Ms. Haugan's depiction of life in South Dakota is entertaining even to this SoDakian! Thank you for writing this series. I can't wait for the last three books!

So easy to read, so hard to put down.

Exciting, witty, and interesting book! The story is so engrossing. I love the authentic characters, and how they handle each other in such unexpected ways. Oh, how I'd love to gallop across a meadow with Tokada Good Elk! The twists and turns inspired my imagination, and swept me right into the book. The knowledge of the Tarot, Rune Stones, Essential Oils and ancient wisdom was captivating. I sure didn't see the end coming, and I cannot wait to read the next book!

Mama Mia!

Filled with vivid characters, from the creative and deeply burdened Hope to her supportive neighbor and friend, the reverent, insightful, and famous Tokada Good Elk, the story is full of delights and setbacks, and gleams of truths and wisdom that are inspiring and uplifting. A feel-good read that had me delighting in the lives of these interesting, genuine ranch families. Using ancient techniques to reflect on life's circumstances and look for deeper meaning, this book also acts as a means to put into practice your personal goals, and achieving them with grace, reverence, and good will.

Intertwining stories with intertwisting plots! Hold on tight!

This book lives up to its title. It's a magical ride on a magical carpet with interwoven stories and themes. You'll meet the Hansens and the Good Elks whose lives are also threaded closely together with love, faith and respect. Hope Hansen has recently become a widower, losing one of her three children in an untimely auto accident as well as her husband, the love of her life. Meanwhile, in the small town of Buffalo Grass, where Hope lives, she finds strength in her friends, especially Mansi and Tokada Good Elk as well as her amazing family. This story is about not so much about loss, but redemtion and it also educates the reader on ancient runes as well as Tarot. There are also a group of men trying to forclose on Hope's beautiful ranch if she doesn't come up with the money owed on it by a certain time. In the mix, we meet a man named Victor whose life undergoes a radical change when he comes to do business from Florida to Buffalo Grass, South Dakota (Buffalo Grass is a fictional town). The characters in this book are well developed and likeable, even the bad guys aren't so terribly bad. I recommend this read because it is an uplifting story of love above tragedy and of course, there's always Hope.

BRAVO!!

I usually read only mainstream best selling authors/books or classics due to limited reading time. In 2015 I vowed to open my mind and explore books that introduce new ideas and ways of thinking while also delivering a fulfilling story line. This book was a great choice! In the first few chapters, I, like the character Victor, dismissed much of it as "New Age mumble jumbo". But I suspended my skepticism and curled up and got into the warm characters that Ms. Pillen brings to life. I was intrigued to find that Rune and Tarot wisdom could be valid in today's society. Like learning any new culture; when we embrace and understand the differences, the more we discover we have in common.

I believe this book can hit you where you currently "are". There are so many nuggets of knowledge, almost everyone will find valuable takeaways. My biggest one was the value of complete forgiveness of those who wrong us, a lesson I am currently struggling with. Luckily, this book is not always about learning....it is funny too, with a fantastic innocence that reminds you of the few good jokes you can tell children. It moves quickly, reads easily and actually wraps up loose ends, (a frustration I often have with even best selling authors. Nice to see a 1st time author get it right). And of course, it did remind me I'm over due for a spa day :-) Pick it up and give it some time. I'm sure you will be glad you did.
